Create a personal oasis with stress reduction techniques like deep breathing, meditation and visualization to boost your diet success.

Diet success -- despite excellent information, all good intentions, resources, and the right foods – can be undone when stress and emotional challenges present themselves. Creating a personal and peaceful personal oasis can help in maintaining focus, discipline and perseverance..

Create a New Body Image

Your life, your health, and your body are your own creation. The subconscious mind awaits, like a piece of clay – or a blank canvas -- for the artist to create. Achieving consistent diet success and a slimmer body happens from the inside out.

First, harness the power of the subconscious mind to create a new body image. Set aside time each day, in the morning and/or before bedtime to relax and imagine your new, slimmer and vibrantly healthy future self.

There's a physiological bonus associated with meditation that includes a reduction in stress-related cortisol production, which contributes to insulin resistance and hypoglycemia, both culprits in weight gain. Avoiding caffeine also helps to reduce the stress hormones associated with spikes in blood sugar and insulin resistance.

Maintain a Daily Practice

  1. Relax: Before you undertake a new diet, work with your inner-self; ensure success by creating the space in your day to relax for 10-20 minutes. Breathe deeply and follow your breath for a few minutes, allowing thoughts to just float by.
  2. Visualize: Once you're relaxed... form an image of the way you'd like to look and feel, using as many details as possible. Details serve as logs in the fire of your imagination, helping it to burn more brightly and carving a stronger imprint on your unconscious mind.
  3. Experience the Joy: It may be difficult at first to imagine the 'new,' you...but with practice it grows easier. Add additional details to your image each day, and summon up the feelings of joy you'll experience when you reach your goal
  4. As important as it is to feed your imagination with feelings and to visualize as many details as you can – it's just as important to “Let Go.”

Letting go of the outcome sends a powerful message to the universe and allows it to respond by supporting you in your efforts in ways you might not have imagined.

Trust in the power of thought to effect change in the physical. The ancient Hermetic law, “as above, so below,” as below, so above," has guided personal healing for centuries by relating the power of the mind to be that “which is above,” and the physical body, “that which is below.”
